'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Families of Missing Teens Desperately Seek Information After Alpine Inferno
The families of teens missing after a deadly fire at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are facing an agonising period of uncertainty for confirmed information and appealing for information about their children via social media.
The fire engulfed the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Verified video show the roof structure igniting as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.
Emergency services have stated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the victims of the fire, which resulted in the death of 40 people and hurt another scores more. Officials noted on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts still underway to identify the remaining few.
In the meantime, loved ones have been taking to the internet to plead for any news about their friends who were at the bar that evening.
Appeals for the Unaccounted For
The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are still unconfirmed, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.
The who lives of a town near Lausanne, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in the capital, but was unsuccessful.
"It feels like a terrible dream, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she stated.

The Italian foreign ministry has said that a number of of its young people remain missing.
One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, who hailed from Genoa but now living in Dubai.
The national sporting body has stated that he is deceased, without mentioning the fire, honoring a "young athlete who embodied dedication and authentic values."
His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An official spokesperson has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.
Other Cases
Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His mother told reporters that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with a group and found himself at the venue.
"Someone with him told me they escaped after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.
One of his educators commented, "He was known for his good nature and positive demeanor, coupled with great responsibility. Every time offer to get me a coffee."
Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss nationality but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on that night, according to reports.
Her sibling has published an appeal online, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.
Officials from her other nation say they are continuing to monitor the case.
