Palestinian-American Adolescent Liberated After Nine-Month Period in Israeli Custody

A Palestinian-American teenager after completing a nine-month period in imprisonment by Israel without charge was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention last February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, claims he consistently denied.

American diplomatic officials expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, while battling health issues developed during imprisonment.

Through an official statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Right now, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care he requires following exposure to mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment for months."

US officials announced ongoing to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

Several congressional representatives had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to secure his release.

The father, with four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, had earlier stated his son only confessed to throwing stones after being assaulted by soldiers.

The father hadn't visited nor direct contact following the detention, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him in detention through court documents.

He stayed without charge within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.
